Santa Fe County Property Taxes

Many of our clients want to know about Santa Fe Property taxes. Generally our rate is .018 of the net taxable valuation. The net taxable is valued at 1/3 of the market price less homestead and veteran's exemptions.
By example, A home purchased for $500,000 would in theory have a taxable value of $165,000 and yearly taxes of $2970. They could be less or more depending on the actual assesed value. New Mexico has recently become a disclosure state, which means the sale is reported to the tax authorities for assessment purposes. In the second year of your ownership the taxes should reflect your purchase price.
